Three Basic Styles Of Kitchen Sink Taps

Kitchen Sink Taps

Have you ever been at work and receive a frantic call from your wife, telling you that the kitchen sink tap finally kicked the bucket and is now spraying water all over your kitchen? If you have, they you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, and will recognize the advice on different types of taps. And if you haven't, then as soon as you get done chuckling at what a sight all that spraying water must have been, then read on for the most common types of kitchen sink taps that can used to replace a faulty one, before it soaks your kitchen and loved ones.

There are three basic styles of kitchen sink taps; the first we'll talk about is a two handle centerset style. In this style, the spout and two handles are all combined onto a single base, which can be installed on the back of the sink. This style is common in bathrooms as well, and are generally inexpensive and can be found in all home improvement stores. Next, you have single handle faucets, which can also be found in both bathrooms and kitchens. These are controlled by one handle that is usually part of the spout, which may or may not be attached to a base.

The third style is a widespread faucet, where the two handles and spout are all installed seperatly. Out of these common kitchen sink taps, choosing the right one is going to depend on the sink itself. If you are just looking to replace a faulty tap, then it's best to go with the same type that is already installed. But if you are considering replacing the entire sink unit anyway, then the choice will come down to what will work with your new sink.

You might also want to consider price into your decision. Widespread style is generally a bit more expensive centerset, and of course different brands cost different amounts. Either way, the amount you pay to replace an old tap is going to be well worth it when it comes to avoiding the drama that a broken one would cause. Imagine how much drama that broken tap would cause at a Sunday night dinner, hosing down your wife, husband, mother-in-law or preacher!
