Kitchen Door Handles
Handling The Situation
When it comes right down to it, the kitchen is the nucleus of the home. Many hours are spent there. If it is poorly designed, feels unclean, or is just not what we wanted, it can really affect our well being. Peace of mind in our everyday living makes for a happy home. You will want to re-model if you cringe any time you open your kitchen door. This being the case, it is time for a DIY kitchen makeover. You do not need to rip everything out if the problem is just the color scheme or the bad counter tops. You may just need to replace the bad counter, put a fresh coat of paint on and give any doors an updated look by replacing the kitchen door handles. After you have chosen your new door hardware, it is a simple matter of putting it on. Make sure the sizes of your handles are compatible with the existing holes. It is possible to bore a larger hole, but you do not want to have to down size one. This actually would require buying a new door or picking out different handles. Once it has been determined that your new hardware will work, you need to loosen and remove the screws. Pull the workings of the handle apart, and remove the entire component from the door. Keep track of how the door handles came apart; this is necessary for proper installation. Most of your hardware will have detailed instructions. If you find that you have forgotten how it goes together, simply refer to these to replace the handle.
You can replace kitchen door handles as well. This will definitely give an updated and fresh look to any kitchen. Once again, make sure your holes match up. If they do not you do have a few more options. Wood putty can help patch an uneven fit. It will require a little extra effort to get it to look right and it will need a fresh coat of paint, so if you have wood doors that are not going to be painted, than you need to just match up the handles. It cuts down on your hardware choices, but there are so many that it really is not hard to find another that will match your decor. Once this simple change has been made, and you still do not like the kitchen, than you can rip into the rest of the room, but that is another subject. |
